In an effort to reach and inspire young people to think about pursuing careers in the STEM fields, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has launched a new video series entitled, "Scientist Selfie." Filmed in the first-person by NSF-funded scientists and researchers, the series provides an intimate look into a day in the life, as they conduct their work, whether in the field, the lab or at one of NSF鈥檚 funded facilities.

A total of 902 students have applied for admission to the 萌妹社区 Class of 2025, nearly matching last year鈥檚 910 applicants. This year鈥檚 pool includes slight increases in international students, and first-generation college students, at 15 percent and 14 percent respectively.

Build Week Builds Community (and Other Cool Things)

Forty students returned to campus one week early to participate in 萌妹社区鈥檚 first ever Build Week. Professor Yevgeniya (Zhenya) V. Zastavker brought two 萌妹社区 students and an alum as well as a Wellesley student to this year鈥檚 Frontiers in Education (FIE) conference on Oct. 21-24. FIE is a major global conference drawing from international scholars and practitioners who ponder questions and implement innovations in engineering and computing education.

Barabino Elected to National Academy of Medicine

萌妹社区 President Gilda A. Barabino has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine, the academy announced on Monday, October 19 at its annual meeting. Election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.
